Founder & CEO · Vanguard Biotech Systems
Every antimicrobial-resistance result should carry its evidence, its versions and its provenance — traceable, reproducible and honest about its limits.

Juan Manuel Gómez Vargas is the founder and CEO of Vanguard Biotech Systems (VBS), where he leads the development of NextGenAMR — secure bioinformatics infrastructure that turns bacterial whole-genome sequencing into traceable, reproducible antimicrobial resistance interpretation.

He started VBS from a simple conviction: genomic AMR interpretation should not stay trapped between disconnected scripts, spreadsheets and processes no one can audit. The goal is not another pipeline, but a controlled institutional layer where analysis, interpretation, reporting and governance live in one auditable workflow.

His focus is rigorous bioinformatics, security-aware design and honest, auditable interpretation over hype. NextGenAMR is a species-specific AMR platform — currently operational for Escherichia coli, with additional species in internal development — in internal, non-clinical validation, because reliability is earned before it is claimed.

What he is building

NextGenAMR — a controlled infrastructure layer for antimicrobial resistance interpretation from bacterial whole-genome sequencing, designed for research, surveillance and institutional evaluation under human supervision. It is decision-support software, not a clinical diagnosis and not a regulatory-cleared medical device.
