About Vanguard Biotech Systems

Vanguard Biotech Systems is a Spanish biotechnology software company developing genomic intelligence systems for antimicrobial resistance. It is a founder-led company incorporated as a Sociedad de Responsabilidad Limitada (S.L.) in 2025, with its operational base in Granada and its registered office in Lepe, Huelva.

Being validated

What we do

Bioinformatics workflows for genomic antimicrobial resistance are powerful but hard to run consistently: versions drift, steps are handed off manually, outputs are heterogeneous and runs are hard to reconstruct. VBS builds controlled infrastructure to make these processes more structured, governed and auditable within a published scope.

Vanguard Biotech Systems' mission is to make complex bioinformatics processes more structured, governed and auditable, while preserving scope, versions, evidence, provenance, system limitations and professional review.

Our product

NextGenAMR is the first product developed by Vanguard Biotech Systems. Vanguard Biotech Systems develops NextGenAMR, a bioinformatics software platform that processes supported cultured-isolate WGS inputs within its published scope, organises genomic evidence related to antimicrobial resistance, preserves run-level provenance and generates outputs for professional review. NextGenAMR is in controlled preview, with internal non-clinical testing in progress and an independent validation programme in preparation; no independent performance results are published. It is not presented as an autonomous diagnostic system, a replacement for phenotypic AST or a tool that selects treatments.

Principles we follow

  • Evidence-based: no public claim without verifiable evidence.
  • Scope-bounded: the system answers only within a versioned, published scope.
  • Prudent by default: it reports a model-estimated probability of resistance, can abstain, and is not a diagnosis.
  • Traceable: provenance, component and database versions travel with every result.

What VBS develops

Around the third-party open-source tools it integrates, VBS develops and owns the layer that makes results governed and reviewable:

  • Workflow orchestration & normalisation
  • Scope control
  • Evidence aggregation
  • Calibration & abstention
  • Provenance & versioning
  • Structured reporting
  • Governance
  • Learning derived from controlled validations

VBS does not claim that using the product accumulates data assets or advantages; any such use would require an explicit policy and agreement that do not exist today.

Collaborations we seek

VBS is open to evaluating research, validation, surveillance, integration, consortium and strategic collaborations around NextGenAMR — each subject to fit and a specific agreement.
